QUOTE (blipper247 @ Feb 08 2009, 01:13 PM) *

I felt as though West Jones had the best overall show. They really had a lot of variety, I LOVED the opener and the costumes - great choreography. Bleeding love was VERY cool and a nice change of style... that last little moment with the guy and girl... awwww and I LOVE the choreography in the closer!!! admittedly you guys still need to work on breath support and vocals in the closer but its SUCH a great number and better than the other group imo. Even better than 4 minutes, which is not much of a closer imo.

I think Petal deserved to win on performance and they did sing very well, but West should have been second and South third imo. IF it were based on show design and choreo only I would say West should have taken it all but they just eed to step up the vocals a little bit.

Great job to all groups -- it was fun to watch finals!!

Aww.. thank you so much.. ha we worked on vocals all week in the opener and bleeding love and the balad.. This week we are working on guys number girls number and the closer(which is very hard to dance and sing) and I really thought that we(west) Deserved overall effect and show design trophies but Im not a judge

Here are my thoughts:

Oak Grove: I was told that you guys were much better in Finals... I don't doubt it, considering the excitement your group had when Finals were announced...

South Jones: I felt like you guys were tired in Finals (It's ok, most of our group were exhausted, too)... The vocals were a little unenergetic at times, but you definitely had your choral moments... I really like the opening outfits... And Jonathan McKenzie always choreographs a good show... I liked Paralyzer... Walking Her Home is one of my favorite songs, and it will always be very effective, no matter who does it... You guys probably deserved the placing you got...

Jackson Prep: This group impressed me most... Not because they were the best group, but because they did very well in their first competition ever... Congrats on winning your division and making Finals... You guys were WAY better in Finals... The male ballad soloist was incredible... I liked the show and the outfits, and the band rocked... I'm pretty sure they'll be a force to be reckoned with before long...

Petal: I expected them to win, and they didn't disappoint... I felt like they had the most energy, by far, of all the Finalists... The opener and ballad are great... 4 Minutes was a little sloppy in Finals last week, but it was very good this week IMO... I felt bad for the guy that got dropped on his butt in the guys number, but he played it off very well... I'm very anxious to see how they fare next week against Clinton, Twinsburg, and Enterprise, along with the other 259,209,489,043 powerhouses that will be there...

All in all, it was pretty well run competition... The fact that there were no homerooms was a little frustrating at times, but it wasn't that huge of a deal...

okay well i left halfway through finals so i dont know results. but i know that finals groups were petal, jackson prep, oak grove, west jones, and south jones. finals soloists were bethany faegan and another girl from petal(sorry i dont know her name) and then samantha ____ from south jones (dont know her last name sorry!). prelims awards: petal won class AAA followed by south and west. petal won womens. jackson prep won class AA. columbia academy won class A.

predictions based on what i saw:

GC- Petal
1RU- South
2RU- West
3RU- Jackson Prep
4RU- Oak Grove

captions all go to Petal except maybe band and you can throw in West for that one.

Bethany will probably win the solo comp!

CLASS AA PRELIMS WERE:

3rd- West Jones
2nd- South Jones
1st- Petal

I have heard that many thought WJ got 2nd in prelims with SJ 3rd. Said WJ has an overall better show. We will see how finals go.
