it's true, Burbank and Attache do have very similar styles, but honestly nowadays, i give the edge to Burbank. it would be awesome to see them go at it head to head because i honestly believe burbank can beat attache.

Alright Attache.....

I think the next champion contender has been born. I don't think you'll see Burbank this year....but what a great year for a showdown am I right?? There have been others worthy of a title fight (Burroughs, North Central, Mt. Zion), but Burbank just went and handled the midwest....and a very strong list of midwest biggies. So let's set it up shall we?? Maybe even a one-on-one. Burbank and Attache. Old Skool Versus New. I can bet you anything the show choir world is gonna wanna see these two compete after this competition.

Who exactly would be "Old School" and who is "new school"?

Burbank,....MAD MAD MAD MAD congratulations!! When I was out working with you on your show a few weeks ago, I knew you'd be great, but I didn't see how big the explosion was gonna be! You acheived my complete vision on the 60's medley, and everything about your show was tight, professional and artistic. Mr. Carroll is so proud of you, as is your entire staff of choreographers (April, Gina and me). To you guys, the Impressions (who also ROCKED by the way!!), your parents, and most of all, Brett Carroll,......thank you for the honor of working with you guys.

To the other finalists, what a night!! A series of 5 championship level shows back to back. Rarely have I seen a better finals in 25 years of doing this. You all should have nothing but total pride and wonderful memories of your magnificent performances.

To FC, thanks for making yesterday an incredibly great day. Well-organized, beautifully run, great facility, and shows by FC Singers and High Voltage that were excellent. FC Singers, your energy at the late hour was awesome, and I'm very proud of your continuing hard work. It was also great to see the parade of alums throughout the day. The only bad part was it made me feel old,......oh wait, I AM OLD!

God Bless and safe travels home for everyone, Damon Brown

I really give Burbank props for travelling across the country to the thick of midwest show choir and putting their rep on the line. A school-hosted competition is a lot different from visiting a FAME or Showstoppers type event, and undoubtedly there had to have been some nervousness of the other groups having a "home field advantage" of sorts. I know that several other groups had to travel a good distance (and through crazy weather!) to get to this event, so I'm definitely not trying to minimize that - but I do think there is something to be said for Burbank being "the new kid in the room" with none of the judges or other schools being very familiar with their program and having to overcome those challenges. They took some risks and placed themselves in a vulnerable position, and it's cool to see that effort pay off!

I also think they set a great example for all of us who participate in the national show choir community, and it is my hope that groups from all areas will do more travelling and outreach to school-hosted competitions in the future. I know that money is always an issue and not everyone has the ability to take their group across the country, but I do think that this kind of inter-coast involvement has really helped push the progression of show choir to amazing places in the past decade. There is no question that the groups from California who have gone to the middle of the country to compete have come back with a new look at show choir and integrated elements of their experience into the circuit here. Given the results of Franklin Central and judging by the positive response that viewers have left about Burbank's show, it is my hope that this exchange has managed to work in the other direction as well!

The overall vibe from everyone who participated at this event appears to be unbelievably positive, and even those of us who were only able to hear about it through SCC can literally feel that energy. It seems to me that everyone at Franklin Central really has a lot to be proud of. Thanks for letting a California group share their music in your home, and thanks to all of the groups for being open-minded and supportive of a group from another part of the country. I know the caliber of all of the performers was very high, and the competition must have been amazing to see.

Lastly, congrats to everyone in Burbank for your success... I will see you all next week and give you my praises in person, but know that everyone out here in California was rooting for you and are beyond thrilled to hear the news. You did us proud.

Yay In Sync! Even after winning in California tonight, this was probably one of my favorite moments of the day. I'm so happy for you guys, and I can't wait to see ya'll at Los Alamitos.

Dekalb, way to be today. You made finals at an incredibly tough competition...anyone in that position deserves more credit than homeboy upstairs gave you. Thank you for coming to our competition, and thank you for being an incredibly entertaining show choir.

show choirnerd, you're associating yourself with Franklin Central in these posts, and in that post you exherted an attitude that FC doesn't subsribe to. I'm proud to be a part of the group this year because it's a positive group and that's what this whole thing is about...feeling good. I wish you'd think twice before you make it so obvious that you were displeased with a hard-working choir's show, and then in the same post associate yourself with FC. If I knew who you were I'd bring it up to you personally, but I dont, so this is my only avenue. Nuff said.

(If I misread you, I appologize, but I don't think I did.)

Thank you.

I just want to say wow! Burbank. such a great show! I got to watch the two numbers on youtube and let me tell you watching it in person was the greatest thing ever!!!! You guys were just at a whole new level and just were outstanding overall. Congratualtions to your nation wide known choreographer! You excacuted her vision of the choreographey very well and just brought so much energy behind everything. well done.

I enjoyed this competition so much. The hosts were so polite and the venue was huge but you there were a lot of people willing to help you where ever you were wanting to go.

I must admit this was the greatest show i felt we had ever done. It felt so good coming of stage. I was told that the final results were

Burbank 809
Fairfield 800
Hunnington North 747

We also had two out five judges have us in first! We tied for best vocals with a score of 400 and then we bet their band by 1 point and were down 10 points visually. and this is all in the evening.
SO close but Burbank definatley had it tonight and it was such a great thing to see them.

My appologies, I looked for something like that originally, but couldn't find it. (I'm new to this site and to forums in general) Just wanna let everyone know that Dekalb did a fine job. That's my 10 cents.

Serriously.
I of all people knows how Scott can be... rude? opinionated? but serriously, in his post I saw nothing demening of the spot. There are some groups you can write more about, that you felt more of a connection with.
I think people really need to stop raggin on Scott right now, there are hell of a lot more people on SCC that are worse than Scott.

I actually think it was smart not to add a group to finals. It's a sign of respect for the group that made it, but couldn't compete.

i agree! Norwell earned the spot in finals... Just because inclement weather made it necessary for them to leave shouldn't mean they have to forfeit what they'd already accomplished... thats would just be stupid

That is a strange way to go about that, in my opinion.
If a group leaves, that should allow another group to go in their spot, but... again, just my line of thinking.

Burbank --- OOOOOOO EEEMMMM GEEEEEEE i Effing love you... no, i mean really. Honestly... i've been to what... 7 comps now and you guys blew everyone i've seen out of the water... I mean REALLY i thought that you guys winning GC out there all the time this year was just due to John Burroughs kind of "building year" with their new director... BUT NO! Just phenominal singing, the dancing was clean and crisp and innovative, the band was perfect yet too electronic for my taste. The only thing i didn't like was the song selection for the closer... you guys have such an awesome vocal sound and your closer is the last thing we get to see from you, i just didn't feel like it was the ultimate BEST song to show off your many talents, but thats far from a complaint... you did it amazingly. I think you guys could easily be called THE best in the country so far this year... too bad you're not going to fairfield... Awe you guys should just stay until then... it's only a week... you can stay at my house... Notice that I don't have anything negative to say? WOW!!!

Fairfield --- Way to step it up out there. I really thought Burbank was gonna walk away with it after prelims, but you guys got a little CRAZY out there tonight (pun definately intended). I love the whole Show Concept.. The only thing i'm not crazy about is your vocal style. It's just very insecure sounding to me. Overall, MUCH improved from when i saw you at Piqua. Way to kick some tail tonight in a very tough lineup

Huntington North --- I ALWAYS love you guys and in my blind predictions i put you first. Unfortunately thats not the way it worked out. Everyone seems to be either having a down year, or just being really inconsistent. I thought you REALLY stepped it up for finals, it was just hard to see your show beating the other 2 shows ahead of you.

Dekalb --- Your ballad was kinda pretty.

Onalaska --- I freaking love you and you should have placed higher. I talked with your director for a good while tonight. He's a really smart guy and he'll take you far you just gotta let him. I know how it is when you have a director for so long and then get a new one... my marching band was that way... we had one director for like 20 years or something Ray Hauser, then he had to retire and we got Mr. Fyffe and at first no one wanted to change or listen to him... we were too used to "the old way" and the first 2 years, we Sucked... But now that ppl are Listening... He's taking them to places they've never been before... Just hang in there and keep on working. I thought your vocals were very nice and well balanced... your choreo was clean yet pretty simple... and your band was a Little shaky sometimes but overall complimented you well. Just a hard competition. Keep up the awesome work

Norwell --- I knew you'd make finals!!!? i don't know what else i can say

Burbank was an all-around amazing ensemble. Their combo was also VERY tight & full. It was exciting to watch.

I was standing near backstage (where there is a loading dock door that was open to outside) getting ready to go on for exhibition while the Burbank kids were coming offstage, and I got to witness what I think was many's first time seeing snow. Ha ha...it was really something to hear the whole group go "Oh my gosh, is it snowing?! It's snowing!!!" Congrats guys, well earned. Hope you enjoyed Indiana...and FC!

(and as far as there not being a fill-in finalist taking Norwell's place, I think if a group travels and performs their show, it would be a tragedy if their award-winning hard work wasn't rewarded simply because of the weather. I'm glad Norwell got to take the hardware home.)

I'm from Norwell, me and two other girls stayed for our awards while the rest went home. We did make finals but sense we were told had to come home we had to leave so we could not perform at finals because everyone was gone. But we were given the 5th runnerup trophy sense we made finals and couldnt perform!

Thanx! Does anyone know any of the JV division awards?
