Single Gender Finals - OK, Here’s an idea: if your school's Women’s Group/Single Gender competed in front of the same mixed group judges in the arena then you can qualify for the Finals in the arena. If you're in the PAC, judged by those judges then you can qualify for Finals in the PAC. This seems like a pretty easy fix to me. I really hope that you reconsider this for next year. You have some extremely talented young women, who have worked just as hard as the mixed groups, who deserve the respect and the right to make the Finals. The message you’re sending to them is that they’re not good enough, and I know that’s not the message that Fairfield Crystal Classic wants to portray.
Outside of a small pocket of Ohio and Indiana, womens finals don't exist. Be thankful for the chances that these performers have at some competitions! It boggles my mind that people are upset over one competition not doing it when to the best of my knowledge, there has never been one single womens finals in my home state (Wisconsin).
Instead of telling them to be grateful, how about fixing that issue statewide in Wisconsin. And you’d be lying I e Watched comps that have women finalists and finals.
I want to start by saying I assume Fairfield published their rules and these groups still chose to come, and if they aren't complaining, I don't think anyone should be.
That said, I do understand the frustration. I feel like Top 6 regardless of division is the way to go - if a treble/bass group is in the Top 6, great, if a middle school is in the Top 6, great - if it's all varsity mixed groups - that's great, too. Our treble group made finals many times over the years - sometimes it was women's finals, sometimes they were just one of the Top 6 groups of the day and qualified that way. Every year we competed at one competition where treble/bass groups were not eligible - and every single one of those years our treble group would've qualified - kind of a bummer, but we knew that going in and still chose to go.
I don't know why I feel the need to offer my two cents, I have zero skin in the game anymore
Maybe stick with women's finals, but also award overall placements like they do in the south. That way the single gender groups still get a chance to perform again, but they also get a chance to know how they stack up to groups in other divisions.
Okay so could i still use a camrea with out a flash to take pictures or no probably a dumb question lol but just want to ask before i take a camrea with me and than end up not being able to use it
Just to clarify, it says in the directors packets you may NOT take pictures of performing groups. "Your school may be disqualified for any infraction of this rule"

I do hope the live stream will be better tomorrow for the high schools groups. the bright lighting makes it so you can’t see a thing that’s happening on stage.
It doesn't look light a lighting issue but rather the camera's exposure is set too high. That shouldn't be difficult to fix, but you're right, you can't see very much as it is currently set. Hopefully they make an adjustment. Ironically, a problem out in California is not enough lighting for the cameras, because everyone wants their shows to look "moody!" Welcome to the struggle of live streaming show choir!
I messaged and they fixed it! If it isn’t adjusted properly tomorrow, send them a message on their Facebook page and they will see it and adjust the exposure.
