I was at the compeition and watched all groups. No offence but Northrop did not deserve to win GC. I belive they were good, with nice costuming but Hamilton was awesome. Congrats to all groups. Loved the shows. Peace out.

Thank you so much! We were really happy with our placement. Obviously everyone wants GC, but we made group history by placing 1st runner up at our first comp this year. Your show is absolutely amazing too, by the way. I can't believe the energy you guys had after an entire day of running around and hosting.

This entire mess is why I believe directors of competitions should post all scores right after the competition in some public way- either via school website, show choir website, or right here on SCC. It clears confusion and he-said-she-said scenarios. Judges are paid the big bucks to score every group... I'm sure they would be more than willing to stand by the numbers they put down on a sheet. If not, they shouldn't be judging. Many directors share their scores with their students anyways. Competitions like "Great River" in Davenport usually have the scores posted on their website a week or two after. And, at Muscatine, I make sure to post the scores here on SCC (I already tweeted day round scores, I still need to post finals). Transparency in show choir is greatly needed. Especially since it seems like we are entering a day and age in show choir where scoring discrepancies are becoming more regular than strange non-sensical plot twists on "GLEE".

Good point! I agree full-heartedly. I try to do my own rankings and without points to work with it is a difficult task. I also disagree with the people who are knocking Show Choirs down in the rankings due to a lot of these so called penalties. Someone needs to be making these points to those people who really matter the most. After all, these kids are working hard to gain a good ranking while also trying to have a good time doing it. They should be rewarded with a high ranking for being able to put out a quality show. Enough said!

Congrats to everyone that competed yesterday it was a fun and very interesting day!! In regards to Center groves placement they shouldn't even been in finals. They had time penalty placing them out of finals. After Center grove was let back in finals the rules again where not followed. Why compete if you can't follow the rules. The rules are there for a reason and may choirs have been put in CGs same place Mt zion at Onalaska. I don't now if I would have put them in last place automatically but some sourt of deduction should been m

All of your typos are indicative of your general ignorance. Let's be nice now.

Congrats to everyone that competed yesterday (COMMA? PERIOD? ANYTHING?) it was a fun and very interesting day!! In regards to Center groves (<--- APOSTROPHE REQUIRED TO INDICATE A POSSESSIVE NOUN) placement (COMMA?) they shouldn't even (HAVE) been in finals. They had (A) time penalty placing them out of finals (IMPROPER SENTENCE STRUCTURE). After Center grove was let back in (<-SHOULD BE INTO) finals (COMMA) the rules again where (WHERE =/= WERE) not followed. Why compete if you can't follow the rules. (<-- THIS IS A QUESTION, NOT A STATEMENT) The rules are there for a reason (COMMA) and may (IS THAT A NEW CATEGORY I HAVEN'T HEARD OF? OR DID YOU MEAN MANY?) choirs have been put in CGs same place Mt zion at (SHOULD BE IN) Onalaska. I don't now (KNOW? OR NOW? ARE YOU CONFUSED?) if I would have put them in last place automatically (COMMA?) but some sourt (<-- NOW THAT ISN'T EVEN A WORD) of deduction should been m (M... WHAT A CONVINCING FINAL ARGUMENT!)

So... unless you want your grammatically incompetent butt handed to you because you're being cruel and mindless, (say it with me!!!) .... LET'S. BE. NICE. NOW.

That bad thing about it is from seeing both official sheets they both have different results which needs to be reviewed by the person who tallied them up and printed them off.

To all Northrop students, I must apologize for a few of my fellow members. I have seen their tweets recently, and while we all must understand their frustration, their lack of sportsmanship is unexcusable. Their tweets towards you come from their immaturity.

I have noticed that you seem to stereotype Center Grove, and Sound System members, and I ask that although a few loud students may give you a false impression of the group, I hope that you will realize most of us have more courtesy than that. I am very greatful for my community, and realized how truly blessed I am for the great school I go to, and also important it views our choir program.

I myself am fully focused on Pike's MusicFestival in two weeks, and am passed whatever happened this last Saturday. I hope you have not lost respect for Sound System due to a small minority of our members and good luck this season.

Agreed^^^

And I wasn't picking sides on whether Center grove or Northrop had the correct scores, I just thought it was goofy that it's really come this far even after the competition was over.

Yes two sides claiming scores but only one has provided proof. My post was not an attempt to cause conflict between two choirs, I just know that many people were concerned with what actually happened. And I believed that everyone deserved to know the truth about what the scores were and not what a student from your alma mater wrote with nothing to back up his information.

Great! Just what we need. Two sides claiming different scores. There's show choir for you! The moral of the story is the competition is now in the past and all groups will move on from it with pride. Now everyone focus on the competitions this Saturday please! Good luck to all groups!

I was obliged to let this thread die, but this was Sound System's first time going over scores since the competition today. I must report that this thread has been full of misinformation. I would first like to clarify that Sound System did place first in overall score. The Vocal caption score was tied and the General Effect and Choreography did go to Sound System resulting in an 11 point win for Sound System. See Below.
Also I would like to touch on the rule that disqualified Sound System from competition in finals. The rule states that a change in program places you in last place, so in some ways I can see how people could interpret as not using the backdrop as a change. Everyone has failed to mention that there is a clause at the end of this rule that states that if during the day show a judge suggests not using a prop or a certain aspect of the performance that aspect may be changed for finals. As expected at least one judge did make a comment of not using the backdrop, so even if it had not broken in teardown for our dayshow, we still could have chose not to use it and it would not have been considered breaking a rule or at least it shouldn't have been. Again I have meant no disrespect by any of my comments, just thought that everyone should have an informed view of what actually occurred.

Thank you so much! We wanted to take it to the next level, and so far, so good. This was the highest we've ever placed, and we hope to go up to that last step. I unfortunately never got to see your guys show during the day, and finals you were right before us. I was even more upset because the costumes you guys had were stellar. Do we compete again with each other?

I'm proud of my group for how far we've come. This time last year, we were going home after out first competition, and now we made it to finals, and go 1st Runner up! I'm proud of Rhapsody, and we, as a group, are more excited than ever to see what the future holds this year for us.

I was very impressed with Hamilton this year. Seeing your show in 2010 I thought you sang very well but your choreo was a bit lacking in areas. Last year i saw you guys at Findlay and could tell it was a rebuilding year for your group and rebuild you did!! Your show was the strongest choreo i have seen ever from this group! You sang well thought for as many where on stage there should have been a bit bigger sound. But you guys are off to a great start this year. We at Northrop wish you the best of luck this year!!
