Is anybody else getting noise feedback on the live stream?
Edit: I feel like this might be due to whatever is mixing the audio, towards the end of South Jones, I could barely hear them (at one point I couldn't hear them at all)... Maybe the wrong microphone is turned up on the mixing board (I have very little experience with this so I'm not 100% sure)
Who is performing right now? Is the competition running on time?
I'm not sure. And probably not. Southern competitions never seem to be on time.
Is the live feed working...?? All I can hear is smooth jazz. Don't get me wrong, it's soothing as can be, but its not what I opened the feed for...
The feed has been working for me, although I've been paying more attention to the Solon feed. The link Haakon put on the home page actually goes to the Petal (Day One) feed. It just takes an extra click to get to the current broadcast.
GC: Clinton
1RU: Jackson Prep
2RU: Albertville
3RU: Oak Grove
4RU: South Jones
3RU and 4RU could switch I haven't seen Oak Grove this year. I have seen South at their competition. I'm a big fan that they have changed their style. I love the new choreographers they have this year and the director seems to be taking them in a good direction.
At Homewood, Albertville won in finals over Prep because of rankings I'm pretty sure. Homewood does a weird ranking system during finals that I don't agree with. I think it should always be about the points. I feel like the rankings can screw some groups up.
I could definitely see Prep coming back and winning this competition. Prep has had a great past few years considering how young of a group they are. I'd say Clinton should watch out for this group in the future.
Albertville this year is more drama than actual choir and the fact that they wear microphones on stage is a bit distasteful in my opinion. I think thats in a way cheating the system.
Good luck to all groups this weekend can't wait to be their and watch
GC- Clinton (BV, BC, BB, overall effect)
1RU- Albertville
2RU- Jackson Prep (best costumes)
3RU- Oak Grove
4RU- South Jones
If South Jones doesn't make finals it will be Madison Central or Brandon. I just wasn't impressed enough with Madison Central for them to beat South Jones a second time.
I agree with the above predictions for middle and small mixed, as well as women's.
Finals
GC: Clinton (BV, BC, Tie for show)
1RU: Jackson Prep
2RU: Albertville (Tie for show)
3RU: Oak Grove
4RU: Madison Central
We've seen most of these groups at homewood (not literally "seen")--so I think Clinton is safe for GC. I'm confident Jackson Prep could jump Albertville this week. Oak Grove beat Madison Central at the beginning of the season (though I'm sure Madison Central has greatly improved). I would've had SJ in the 4RU spot; however, after Homewood, that could be less likely. Will this be the first time that South Jones has missed finals at a Southern competition since...2010? Can a Middle mixed group fight its way into Finals? Can Albertville grab that show caption? Will my face remain intact (not melt) after seeing Clinton live? I guess we will see. Should be FIERCE.

**I will be here at least for Finals. And I need people to hang out with while there. So hang out with me lol. I'll wear my SCC T-shirt :D
Even though my choir is attending this one, I will throw this out there as a prediction: I expect finals here to play out differently than at Homewood. Petal has a history (good thing in my opinion) of being slightly more strict with all rules than other competitions. But outside of that I'm willing to bet that the Finals a Homewood were very close so they will be trying to surpass each other. With all this already in play, you also are throwing in a great Oak Grove group (one of the best the school has ever had) and a Purvis group with a lot of heart and I expect to see a bit of a shakeup!
P.S. The only thing I'll say about middle division is that it will be a bloodbath. hahahaha
