Middle school competition will consist of Woodside, Anderson East Side, Indian Springs, Norwell MS and Miami.
Judges for Saturday will be Jeff Bowen and Nancy Walburn, vocal; Nikki Prichard and Cindy Shipley-White, visual, and Jim Swartzlander instrumental. Also Carol Resler will be best solo in a show, Lindsey Helmer-Kraner will be best performer, and Sue Simon and Donna Russell will judge the solo competition.
Still no word on small/large designations, so who knows what's up with that.
To be brutally honest, I don't know how it'll work this year... ISSMA small/large designations are for the state finals, and qualifying invitationals aren't beholden to them. A lot of qualifiers use them for consistency's sake, but they don't have to. Traditionally, EN has used our own designations for small/large for our contest, I think with a max of 30 in a group if they go small. We've never separated the single-gender, and we used to do small-school mixed GC during the day show, but finals were just the top 5 scores. Now that there aren't finals, I'm not sure if we'll still do a small school GC and then top 5 besides that, or just leave it alone and have just two divisions (single-gender and mixed), or split it up, or what.
Thanks, Darren. Since this is an ISSMA qualifier, would you care to label Large/Small divisions? I could probably guess based on all of the other Indiana events I've put together, but I'd rather not.
I don't have the schedule yet, I just had word about finals. I'm hoping for it really soon (I make the director's packets and prepare all the labels/materials for tabulations--I need final record of the groups that are coming like yesterday), and as soon as I get of it, i'll post it here!
I have an update on this year's competition...there will NOT be finals this year. We're moving to a single-performance format because we have 24 groups in on Saturday and we only run one performance venue. If we did our normal finals format we'd be looking at something crazy like performances starting at 7.00 AM and final awards scheduled somewhere after midnight, which is a CRAZY long day. This will cut it down nicely - we'll be able to space performances a little more comfortably (rather than every 25 minutes) so we don't have to push as hard to keep to the schedule, and we still promise a day full of show choir and of fantastic performances!
Care to share a schedule?

Well, I'm old and I'm way out of the loop, but I know it's happening and I know there were 27 groups at last count. 3 middle schools will compete on Friday night and somehow by a scheduling work of witchery 24 groups will compete on Saturday. I have no idea who any of them are, though, so if you know your groups are coming, chime in!
As has been the case for the past few years, Knight Edition will be an ISSMA State qualifying venue, and as always finals will be five mixed and three women, regardless of class.
