I really didn't get to see many groups...  .  Hosting was such a blast though!

CHULA SHOULD HAVE PLACED!  I thought they were great!

You have to love Celebration for what they are... Way to work it.

I really enjoy Burbank's set every time I see it.  I thought they sounded very mature in their first a cappella.  They have really hot guys with COOL hair too!  I can't wait to get to know some of you in FLORIDA!

Bonita MM... you guys scared me with your showmanship last night!  I was sitting on the front row and I thought some of you would explode (especially Pablo).

Anyway, GOOD TIMES HAD BY ALL!

thanks haylee, you were hte bestest host ever! and always remember...Total Eclipse of the HART!!! ;)

Hart was so fun. I talked to some really nice girls from Hart and your performance sounded awesome. About the placings, I was really surprised that Chula did not place. You sounded good last night. He's my son gave me chills. Diamond Bar had so much energy and you could tell they wanted it so bad. Don't let down..you'll get there. Good job to Burroughs..very solid. And that guy in soundtrax that had the solo in the beginning seemed so cool and sweet when his voice bailed out on him. Good job to everyone and thank you to Hart for being so supportive of everyone's choirs.

I just wanted to give a special "woohoo" to that dude in the Los A. opener, who knows how to take adversity and make it fun. His voice abandoned him at the end (those of us who've seen the song before already know that he has an amazing voice) and he reacted so well, it almost looked as if he had planned to do a voice-cracking over-the-top riff just for the fun of it...then he went for the last note and again was betrayed by the vocal Gods, yet still made us love him. THAT is personality, folks, and I'd bet money, based on what I saw, that he's a thoughtful, well-adjusted guy with a great sense of humor. Good job!

What a great night of Show-Choir!
Lots of good fun and people! Definately the place to be last night!

My observations:

1) Never wear CHOIR ROBES in a show-choir setting... please

2) If you are going to play any Queen songs on the guitar... YOU'd better play them right...

3) Thank you for NOT having a "people's choice award"

4) Julie Adams (Burbank) is awesome.... and in 9th grade.... oh my! JD's little sis!(JD from American Idol)

5) Chula should have placed... Great showmanship. I hate to see unjustice being done! Like the Olympics....

6) Diamond Bar Girls should have placed...

7) Talk about dedication.... Amanda and Heather drove from Riverside to Hart without tickets! Then drove home! ..... wow

Best vocals of the night: John Burroughs & Burbank
Best show: Chula Vista & Diamond Bar
Most HART ....errrr. i mean "Heart" on stage: Celebration!

Best individual performances: Matt (Celebration), Kelly (HartBreakers), Julie (Burbank), Haylee (Hart), Burbank boy soloist (nerd), Virginia (chula), Dani (BV).... there are more.... i just can't think now...

This is how it SHOULD have gone:
1) Burbank
2) Burroughs
3) Chula
4) Diamond Bar
5) Celebration

As you can see... my results were totally different from the actual ones. I was there and judged them on that performance that night. DBar was better at Brea.... maybe its the stage... Celebration impressed me... but not as much to get 4th... but congrats anyway!..... Chula got screwed.... again.... Burbank's acapella and performance earned them 1st in my opinion

OUT!

Thank you!! You're so awesome, and really nice too, I finally im'd you, hahaha " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

many Thanx to Hart and Diamond Bar for spreading so much love this weekend...both organizations did wonderful hosting jobs.

Being associated with Burroughs, I want to especially congratulate Sound Sensations, who sang beautifully yesterday and deserved better music scores (ok, I AM biased, but how do you get 1st in music one night, and then sing BETTER the next day and get 6th?)

By the way, I'm the guy that played that apparently very prominent sour note on the violin at the end of "When you come back down." Gah! I hereby publicly apologize and promise to 1) practice; and 2) turn down.

I'm also VERY proud of Decibelles, who are so charming and cute I just want to melt into a puddle of goo. You deserved the trophy girls! I love you! Great job also to Sound Waves and M@W.

Also, congrats to my girl Jini for a wonderful 3rd place showing in the solo comp, raw voice and all. All the Burroughs soloists did great jobs.

Regarding the other schools, a few comments/compliments:

Los Alamitos: NICE improvement over the last time I saw you. Vincent, with those tough jazz chords, was much more in tune. If you achieved this without "turning off" some voices, it's especially impressive. Overall, great set.

Eastlake? (I think it was you guys; the people with the military medley) If the audience stays tuned long enough to see the last half of your set, it's actually fun, and it shows in your performance. Conversely, you look like you're having your teeth pulled when you're doing that military medley. Also, didn't I see it last year at Chula? Just wondering. You guys have potential; maybe your director shouldn't choose castor oil for a repertoire.

Hart: Congrats for sweeping DB, what a nice set. You combine precision with great musical elements. Unlike DB and Burbank, you rarely sacrifice beauty for power. My vote, if I had one, would be for a better choice for a capella; something that's, I dunno, more in character. But again, many bow-downs.

Burbank: Loved the show, very entertaining; great men's section. Lotsa talent. It seems a bit different in character...maybe a little more traditional in style than what we've seen in past years, but well executed. You are once again to be feared.

DB: Wow, what energy! Again, very theatrical and very powerful. You're always a favorite with audiences. Personally, I can't stand the Captain Kirk-ish interpretation of "Yesterday". I feel like I'm watching an SNL parody of show choir. You have such talented singers, who are capable of great power and excellent intonation. Simply showing us dynamic calisthenics, however, is not beautiful. The Beatles chunk was improved overall, however, and in offering my small criticism I remain mindful that yours is another set that is quite capable of winning any competition.

Just one person's opinions, and sorry it's so lengthy. I also want to say how gratifying it is to see such maturity, such warmth so many wonderful personalities in every choir, in every school. Somehow I don't think you represent the average student in Southern CA, but I sure wish you did.
