So we just got word that they have decided to postpone the Islander Invitational until 2008. Thats too bad but they couldn't find a date when they could get a good amount of groups to commit to.
we heard the 24th also and still aren't sure as to whether we will attend on that date or not, our director is iffy on planning something later that wasn't planned with our busy school schedules
That's sad that ATSC wouldn't be there. I think both of our groups can make it since we were supposed to have the LC Booster Club Auction that day so we all should have it free.
We were told tonight that they are now trying to put Grand Island on March 24. Has anyone else heard this?
Yeah we were told that GISH is planning on the 24th but it is still relatively tentative as of now. If it is the 24th, ATSC cannot attend because the majority of our show band will be in California with our Jazz Band. Warrior Express and Simply Irresistible would still be attending though.

Yes, this has been heard. This date won't work for ATSC because our band and 2 singers are in Monterey, CA doing a Jazz Band thing. But I think SI, and Warrior Express are able to make the trip.
A. A Lewis Central person posted the rescheduled date- why don't you wait to hear directly from Grand Island before complaining about the date.
B. Obviously, rescheduling is not an ideal situation for Grand Island- they are probably limited in when they can reschedule because of their OWN performance schedule, as well as facility schedules. A new date for this competition will probably not be able to accomodate every single show choir who was scheduled to attend. They are doing the best they can in a difficult situation. I'm sure whatever they choose is the best they can do- a bit of support for the decision they end up making wouldn't hurt.
A fax was sent out by GISH saying that their tentative make-up date was March 17th and they asked for directors to respond whether or not they could attend. I've also heard that GISH has a school dance on that day. Most of us realize that this is not an easy thing to reschedule and are hoping that we can still attend the competition.

march 17th seems like an all around bad choice to me... considering the other competitions for that date... it they would have it a week later it would be nicer...
A lot of these groups that would have competed here today, will probably be making a choice for March 17th to either compete here or attend Omaha North like they had already planned. I wonder how many schools will stick with this competition, or just move on with their season and still compete at North?

I don't think that it is for sure on the 17th because then I know that all 3 Westside groups won't be there and then LC won't be there. ATSC will be in Florida performing at Disney World that day..Hmmm Grand Island or Florida???
Florida will be nice. Won't have to worry about the competition getting snowed out. That is Nebraska/Midwest weather for ya though.
it is re-scheduled for March 17th. I know LC groups won't be going since both of our directors will be out of town that day

wow jus tmuch papio drama.. but yes free spirit was supposed to go to the big dance.. but then we changed and are going to Souix City East.. which is iffy due to snow.. but if GISH is the 17th now, then i'm so there to watch!
The absolutely marvelous Dr. Therees Hibbard will be judging this competition. She is the assistant choral director at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is just fabulous!!! She also used to be a touring dancer so I know you guys will love her!
